NEW YEAR'S INSPIRATION...

whether you are going out on the town, going to a party, or celebrating with close friends and family, here is some style inspiration. what better way to bring in the new year than with style??

FOR THE LOVE OF LISTS

i am an avid list maker !! i would never remember everything i have to get done on various days if it wasn't for lists. {they came especially in handy when i was juggling school, work, and dance..} i have become slightly obsessed with buying notepads. every time i go into target i pick up at least two new ones.. after all they are right in front of you when you walk into the store. even though it's not like i don't already have enough. however, once you build up a collection, you can switch them out occasionally!

THE MIX CD

who doesn't love new music?? a quick and thoughtful gift that i always include in presents for a good friend is a mix cd... it can include songs that remind you of them, songs they love, songs they should hear, or songs they may hear at an upcoming concert. {i always give my friend a collection of rock songs plus songs by artists she's going to see in concert} to make the gift extra special i made a cover and wrote out the track list. to make the heart cover i cut out a heart on paper, hod podged it, dipped it in a plateful of glitter, and let it dry. then i secured it to another piece of paper. this gift is so personalized, it's great to include in any present. so if you need a last minute gift but don't feel like running out to the store... make em a cd!!

UNWRAP ME

this year i really wanted to try making my own wrapping paper.. {similar to these gift bags} however, with finals going on for my last semester of college plus work and dance rehearsals i was just too busy and did not find the time to do it. nonetheless, i still wanted to get a little creative with the present wrapping!! i know it's very last minute, but i know i was still finishing up wrapping today. so.. here are some ideas to spice up your wrapping. your loved ones won't want to destroy it when unwrapping!!

 {use colorful paper and curl a ton of ribbon to make your own bow}

DECK THE HALLS...

i finally got around to putting up the rest of the christmas decorations {now that finals and college are officially finished!!!} i thought i would share some of the decor in the hopes of inspiring some of you! a lot of my decorations have different vibes to them... but its more fun to walk into different rooms and get a completely different feeling!

THE HOBBIT

if you have not seen the hobbit yet, i highly recommend you do so!! its an amazing story and a great movie.. especially if you are a lord of the rings fan. plus, who doesn't want to look at kili {pictured above} for almost three hours??

ps i officially finished my last day of college today... it feels so unreal!!

SANTA'S FAVORITE TREAT

santa's not the only one who loves getting homemade cookies on christmas, right?? homemade cookies have become a staple gift. i make my mom's butter cookies, chocolate chip, peanut butter, and raggedy robins {just to name a few!} usually i put them in a festive tin and stick a to and from tag and bow on top. this year i thought it would be more personal and unique if i made cookie plates for my loved ones! {i have seen this super simple diy floating around pinterest a lot lately..} seriously... super simple! all you need is a sharpie {i used a fine tip} and cheap white plates, which i got at target. then just go to town writing and drawing whatever your heart desires!! i did mine entirely freehand without a pencil.. just a little tip: the sharpie comes off very easily with a bit of water and a paper towel. after you're done your design, pop it in the oven for 30 minutes on 300 degrees to let the ink set. voila.. you have adorable cookie plates. now go bake some delicious cookies to put on top!

BABY, ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS...

with christmas just around the corner, its time to really start thinking about what gifts you are going to give your loved ones. here are just a few ideas for any girls in your life... i know i wouldn't mind finding any of these under my christmas tree!

DIY GIFT BAG

i love picking out the perfect gifts for the special people my life. i also love putting a little more effort and personalizing the packaging. here is a super cute way to decorate gift bags using cookie cutters. all you need is cookie cutters, paint, white bags {got mine at michaels}, pencils, and a small paint brush. lightly trace your cookie cutters anywhere on the bag with a pencil... then go to town painting the designs. {your tracing does not need to be the neatest since it will be covered with paint} also, i found that three coats of paint gave the best results.

TIS THE SEASON...

to watch holiday movies! this is one of my favorite things to do during the holiday season... especially when cuddling up with a fire, hot chocolate, and someone special! here are a few of my long-time favorites. it just wouldn't feel like christmas without watching these at least once.
