WHAT I'M BLASTING...

i love love love music! i am always listening to it.. whether i'm getting ready to go out, killing time on the internet, or enjoying the outdoors. {when i was in college, i HAD to have music on when writing papers or studying..} i especially love blasting music in my car. it makes the drive to work less unbearable. as i'm sure you have figured out, i loooove rock. it's basically all i listen to. i thought i would share with you some of the music i am currently blasting on repeat! you should definitely go check out all the bands listed above {although i'm sure you know many of the classics well already!} here are a few albums i highly recommend!!

BLACK

black is my most used, go to nail polish. i find i am always reaching for it. {it matches my dark soul quite well. ha!} i have used many brands of black nail polish and find i am very critical of the quality. it must not not be super expensive. i refuse to pay double digits for a bottle of nail polish when you can find ones of great quality for way cheaper. i also HATE when the black is watery. when i wear black i want it just that... black. and i mean opaque black. i am really bad at remembering to put on a top coat and most of the time when i do remember, i don't have time to sit and let it dry. so, i need a polish that is going to last at least a week without major chipping issues. after trying out different brands i can, without a doubt, say revlon's black nail polish is my absolute favorite. {every time i buy a new bottle they have changed the name, but the product is exactly the same} nothing even comes close in comparison. it's on the cheaper side, opaque, and lasts forever! so if you are in the market for a new black polish, i highly recommend revlon's!

FOR THE LOVE OF FINGERLESS GLOVES

it has been absolutely freezing cold in maryland lately. not fun! especially since i am not one to wear winter coats and jackets.. i just don't like feeling like a giant marsh mellow. it's probably a horrible habit, but even when it gets into the twenties i still only wear a hoodie. on that note... i do hate when my hands are so cold they can't function. fingerless gloves have been one of my winter staples for many years now! {again, i should probably wear gloves with fingers but i just don't like feeling restricted!!} not only do they help keep my hands warm but i love the rocker/grungy vibe that comes with them! here are just a few of my go to fingerless gloves.

INSPIRATION: TIM BURTON

i pull inspiration from a lot of things but tim burton is definitely one of my biggest! i love so so so many of his movies and adore his teamwork with danny elfman {yes... i even did a project in college on the two of them in one of my music classes!} basically, i love burton's style.. it's so out of the box. creepy with a hint of humor.. just the way i like it! i was lucky enough to get the art of tim burton book two years ago for christmas. definitely the next best thing, since i wasn't about to make it to his exhibit in new york a few years ago. i thought i would share some of the pieces in the book that really jump out at me. hopefully you get inspired too!

CREEPY CAN COVER UP

i wanted to make my own "piggy banks" for tattoo and concert savings. originally i thought about using mason jars, however, i only had one left around the house. that's when i got the idea to use old cans that were going to go out with the recycling. when i was at michael's this past month i found killer halloween ribbon on clearance. i thought they would be a {perfect} simple solution to cover up the ugly cans. all i did was peel off the original can labels, cut the ribbon to the appropriate length, and used e6000 to secure the two strips. be sure to firmly hold down the ribbon for a few minutes. at first, my edges kept coming up. this is clearly not the most creative or advanced craft but it was super easy and gave the cans some creepy vibes!

TO DIE FOR

a lot of my friends and family have been sick recently. even i am feeling a little under the weather. one of my favorite things to do when i just need to rest and relax is watch movies! and of course, my go to genre is horror!!! {this should come as no surprise} i thought i would share a few of my favorite scary movies.. all of which are must sees! so... if you or someone you know is not feeling one hundred percent, you can pop in any of these films.. or have a horror movie marathon {which is one of my favorite things to do on nights in!} ps i could go on and on about horror movies so i only picked a few of my favorites. seriously, the list is endless!!

THE DARK SIDE

change is the theme of my 2013!! yesterday i jumped off the deep end and went from ash blonde to medium brunette.. and i must say I LOVE IT!!! hey blondes, if i can do it you can do it! i have been a blonde {and when i say blonde i mean very blonde} since my sophomore year of high school... that's about seven years. however, it was super high maintenance. i only get my hair professionally colored twice a year and i have pretty dark roots. so, after about two weeks, roots would be showing. i used root touch up but it never perfectly matched. also, we have well water and that takes a major toll on my hair. mostly turning the blonde from ash to yellow. so with all of that in mind, plus my current state of mind {which is change is good and live life to the fullest} i impulsively bough hair dye the other day. my friend dyed it and the rest is history!! i couldn't love it more and i don't think my blonde will be making an come back any time soon!

before...
after!!!
